Valves (ASTM/ASME/API compliant)

  • Read

In all industrial sectors, ball valves compliant with ASTM/ASME/API standards find wide applications. They are especially used in applications where it is necessary to control fluids such as water, gas, or highly dense and abrasive liquids. For each of these applications, there are bespoke ball valves designed with their unique features and material combinations.

The most commonly used types include monoblock, split body, three-piece, trunnion, top entry, and end entry ball valves. Each category can be crafted with the body derived from casting, metal forging, or mechanical processing starting from round bars. The materials used range from common steels like carbon steel and stainless steel to more specialised alloys for heavy-duty applications.

Valve actuators

  • Read

Among the most important accessories that can be paired with valves, the actuator is certainly noteworthy. It is a system that allows for the operation of any type and size of valve without the need for manual intervention. Through pneumatic, electric, or hydraulic power sources, the actuator independently opens or closes the valves.

Pneumatic actuators are very common, offering cost-effectiveness and good reliability. They come in single-acting and double-acting types, and are constructed from materials such as cast iron, aluminium, or steel, powered by compressed air.

Electric valve actuators

  • Read

Hoses

  • Read

Metal and rubber flexible hoses are widely used in industry. Metal flexible hoses are suitable for conveying a wide range of liquids or gases within broad temperature and pressure limits. They are made from corrugated stainless steel tubes with parallel corrugations, without any circumferential welding, and are equipped with a single or double external braiding for reinforcement, typically made of stainless steel.

Steel and rubber flexible hoses are primarily used in pneumatic and hydraulic applications due to their resistance to very high pressures, but they are also commonly used for conveying food-grade fluids, acids, and more. They are available with textile and metal inserts and coverings, in various lengths, and with threaded and flanged fittings according to DIN, SAE, and other standards.

Gaskets

  • Read

Gaskets are the most commonly used spare parts in the maintenance of industrial plants, especially for overhauling valves and equipment in general. There are different types of gaskets for each application.

Spiral wound gaskets are composed of a stainless steel spiral coated with graphite or PTFE with or without a carbon steel centring ring, cadmium-plated, zinc-coated, or painted, or with stainless steel placed internally and/or externally to the spiral to provide higher resistance and allow for faster installation. They are available to ASTM and UNI EN standards in pressure ranges S. 150 - 1500 and PN 10 - 160.

Metal-plastic gaskets are composed of a soft core and a metal coating. The latter serves to keep the gasket more compact and therefore more resistant. The core, thanks to its softness, adapts perfectly to the surface it rests on, providing a better seal.

Ring joints from R11 to R66 in carbon steel and stainless steel.

Sheets and flat gaskets composed of mineral fibres, rubber, PTFE, aramid fibres, graphite, carbon, etc. These materials can be used individually or mixed together to create increasingly advanced technological products and solve compatibility and sealing problems with all types of fluids. In stock, you will find a wide range of standard gaskets to ASTM and UNI EN standards in various thicknesses, sizes, and diameters.

Braids and packings made from textile and non-textile yarns, intertwined to provide high tensile strength and greater sealing security. They are used mainly as spare parts on pumps, valves, furnace doors, and flanged couplings. Numerous materials are used, either individually or mixed (graphite, PTFE, cotton, ceramic fibre, fibreglass, etc.). Available in various sizes and material combinations.

O-rings, sealing rings, lip seals in NBR, viton, silicone, PTFE, polyurethane.

A wide range of these gaskets is readily available in stock, including NBR, viton, silicone, polyurethane o-rings in both English and metric series, in various compounds and sizes.

Flanges

  • Read

Flanges also play an important role in the industrial sector. They serve as the connection point between two pipelines, and due to being a potential weak point, special attention is paid to their quality and sealing capacity. There are various types of flanges, all dependent on a single factor, which is pressure.

Flanges according to ASTM, MSS SP44, AFNOR, UNI EN standards are available in carbon steel and stainless steel materials, in the 150 - 4500 series, and in slip-on, welding-neck, blind, screwed, lap joint, socket-weld, long welding-neck versions.

Condensate drains

  • Read

Thanks to the collaboration with one of the world's largest steam equipment manufacturers, Fosteel now manages condensate traps, condensate pots, manifolds, in various versions, in its warehouse. This provides its customers with a wide range of spare parts for steam and condensate systems, along with appropriate technical support. Bucket-type, float-type, thermodynamic, and thermostatic condensate traps are among the types of traps available. They can be made from various materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel for low and medium-temperature steam, and chrome steels for high and ultra-high-temperature applications. The connections can be flanged, threaded, or welded according to ASTM and UNI EN standards.

Manifolds are commonly used for steam distribution and for collecting condensate from the main service line. Traditionally, manifolds are made from pipes, closed with end caps welded at the ends, and featuring numerous connections. They are used for steam distribution or condensate collection. Manifolds are constructed from carbon steel, stainless steel, chrome steels, and other materials.

PTFE-coated products

  • Read

Products of various types and materials (cast iron and steel valves, steel and rubber hoses, steel and rubber expansion joints), all have one common feature: they are internally lined with one or more layers of PTFE. Elected as the prince of plastics due to its versatility, PTFE remains one of the most unique materials to this day.

These products find application primarily in environments with the presence of acids, strong alkalis, fluids with strict sealing requirements, where materials with low friction are needed, and in various finished forms, including isostatically moulded components. They are generally used in the chemical-pharmaceutical, engineering, petrochemical, mechanical, and food industries.

Expansion joints

  • Read

Expansion joints are used in pipelines, equipment, and in all cases where thermal expansion needs to be absorbed. They are successfully employed in refineries, chemical industries, thermal and nuclear power plants, cryogenic installations, and more. The working conditions of expansion joints can vary in terms of pressure, ranging from a few millimetres of water column up to over 9.81 MPa (100 kg/cm²), with temperatures varying from -250°C to 900°C.

Therefore, the expansion joint, being a highly technologically advanced component, must be correctly selected, designed, manufactured, tested, and installed based on the operating conditions. They consist of the bellows, the conductor, and the connections. The most commonly used material for the bellows is stainless steel AISI321, but it can also be constructed from AISI316, INCONEL, etc.

The connections can be flanged, threaded, or welded in materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steels, etc. Additionally, custom connections can be fabricated upon customer request.
